Stratigraphy comments: The nannofossil assemblage from the Harada Formation in the upper part of this group is characterized by the occurrence of Pseudoemiliania cf. lacunosa, without Reticulofenestra pseudoumbilica and Gephyrocapsa spp. (Okada, 1987). According to Blow (1969) and Okada and Bukry (1980), this group belongs to zones N19 and CN12 (early Piacenzian), according to Akimoto et al. (2012). Utagawa et al. (2015) dated andesite in the underlying Suzaki Formation at 3.62 +/- 0.16 Ma by K-Ar.
