Stratigraphy
Geological group:Midway Formation:Wills Point Member:Mexia Clay
Stratigraphy comments: Station 8 of Alexander (1934) includes two collections. The one recorded here ("8b") is basal Wills Point Fm. (Mexia Clay Mbr.); "8a" is upper Kincaid Fm. and is entered as a separate collection.

Lower Mexia Clay Member is Danian according to: Armstrong, A., Nyborg, T., Bishop, G.A., Morales, À.O. and Vega, F.J., 2009. Decapod crustaceans from the Paleocene of Central Texas, USA. Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas, 26(3), pp.745-763.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: poorly lithified claystone
Lithology description: The dark, fossiliferous, glauconitic clay at the base of the bank is rich in Cucullea macrodonta Whitfield and lies near the top of the Kincaid formation and about 25 feet below the strata exposed at station 8. Foraminifera and ostracodes are numerous, and this has been selected as the type locality for Brachycythere plena n. sp., B. interrasilis n. sp., Cythereis midwayensis n. sp. and Cytheromorpha scrobiculata n. sp.
Environment:marginal marine indet.
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:body
Size of fossils:microfossils
Collection methods and comments
Collection methods:bulk,sieve
Reason for describing collection:taxonomic analysis
Taxonomic list comments:This references only lists taxa for which the locality is the type section. Other microfossils are reported to be present but not listed.
