Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:gray mudstone
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: The stratigraphic section of the quarry consists of 18 massive beds of micritic, gray to dark gray limestones, mostly mudstone to wackstone, with a rather scarce and low diversity macrofossil content
Environment:lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal
Geology comments: The sampled facies of micritic limestone with brackish to restricted marine faunal elements suggest that the Cabeço da Vaca turtle lived in a low energy, probably lagoonal environment, located near a large tidal flat with fine-grained micritic sedimentation connected with inner sectors of a carbonate shelf.
