Stratigraphy comments: The sediment embedding the fossil belongs to the Gelasian?-Calabrian (Lower Pleistocene) Calcarenite di Gravina Formation. The occurrence of gephyrocapsids > 3–4 lm allows an early Calabrian age to be inferred, at least tentatively, according to Rio et al. (1990).
