Lithology description: "The bulk of the Lower Freestone is white to grey or fawn current-bedded oolite. The lowest third contains much sand; comminuted shell-debris and small, rounded pellets of calcite-mudstone are scattered throughout. The basal 3.5ft were decalcified, with soft, chalky ooliths in a porous friable matrix." (Green & Melville 1956)
