Stratigraphy
Formation:Eguino Member:Albeniz
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: The late Albian age of the Aldoirar carbonate bank has been determined on the basis of regional stratigraphic inferences and a single ammonite from the stratigraphically youngest section exposed at the quarry (Klompmaker, 2013). The reefal limestones become progressively younger toward the southeast, using a combination of geopetal structures in brachiopod shells from Koskobilo quarry and the orientation of more clearly bedded limestones of the same patch reef at a directly adjacent quarry (López-Horgue et al., 1996, Klompmaker et al., 2013b). A more precise age assignment, i.e., early late Albian and corresponding to the Hysteroceras varicosum ammonite Zone, has recently been suggested by López-Horgue and Bodego (2017).
