Stratigraphy
Geological group:Churchill River Formation:Chasm Creek Member:1
Stratigraphic resolution:member
Stratigraphy comments: Faunal assemblage with this collection is associated with the upper 11 feet of Member No.1. In the upper 11 feet, "Palaeofavosites okulitchi . . . appears for the first time. This species is considered diagnostic for the upper Stony Mountain Formation (Gunton Member) of southern Manitoba and suggests that these upper beds of Member No. 1 and the higher strata of the formation may correlate with the Gunton."
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:dolomitic,gray "limestone"
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: "At least 55 feet thick . . . consists of very resistant, light-yellowish-gray to buff, microcrystalline, iron-rich, in many places fucoidal, dolomitic to slightly dolomitic limestone, in massive beds weathering yellow and orange. Organic detritus is rather sparse and finely fragmented."
Environment:carbonate indet.
