Lithology description: "In the Elegest and Kyzil-Chira, sections occur in limestones and argillaceous limestones as coquinas of well-preserved, articulated shells...Interbedded with nodular limestones containing numerous colonies of tabulates in living, as well as inverted position, rugoswans together with algae [stromatoporoids, crinoid columnals, bryozoans..."

Geology comments: "Good preservation....suggests burial near living position, as does articulation of brachiopods. Shallow water, characterized by organogenic, detrital carbonate accumulation, including inverted coelenterate colonies. Some coquinas indicate reasonable level of water movement [but community most characteristic of quieter water]. BA 2-3 [based on diversity and composition]"
