Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:brown siltstone
Secondary lithology: conglomerate
Lithology description: 'The Magian suite comprises brown siltstones with interbedded conglomerates.' 'from the bottom up, layers of grey conglomerates, pale brown aleurites and thin layers of sands.' total thickness of approximately 50m.
Geology comments: Probably of volcanic origin.
Taphonomy
Size of fossils:macrofossils
Collection methods and comments
Reason for describing collection:biostratigraphic analysis
Collection method comments: locality destroyed by blasting during canal building.
Taxonomic list comments:The two different faunal lists conflict, as they were collected by separate groups, so both have been entered.
50% of finds belong to rhinocerotids. Forsten and Sharapov also list Hipparion sp. and eggshells of a large bird ?Ostrich.
