Stratigraphy
Formation:Bahe
Stratigraphy comments: MN10, Tortonian, Bahean. Beneath the red clay of the Lantian Formation and above the Koujiacun Formation. A complex lithology of 'predominantly orange-yellow conglomerates, sandstones, tan-yellow sandy mudstones, and tan-red mudstones. The lithologic character is inconsistent between each of the cross-sections, as the unit varies in depth of colour and grain size. The predominant lithology is a sandy mudstone. It is a relatively thick unit, generally over 300m.' (Chow, 1978).
Lithology and environment
Lithology description: Chiefly yellow sands and conglomerates (Qui, 1990).
Environment:fluvial indet.
Taphonomy
Size of fossils:macrofossils
Collection methods and comments
Reason for describing collection:biostratigraphic analysis
Collection method comments: Excavated in the 1960s.
Taxonomic list comments:This faunal list is for the Bahe Formation - a conflation of those from several units in the same site and from several nearby localities. More details are given in Chow (1978), but the localities are not fully explained, so have not been entered separately.
