Stratigraphy comments: Middle of the exposed section, 1225 ft above its base. The complete thickness of the Chico Formation is not exposed anywhere, since its upper beds are overlain by the volcanic Tusacan Formation. The greatest thickness of the Chico exposed in the region is in Big Chico Creek, where it reaches about 2000 ft.
