Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: lithified packstone
Secondary lithology: lithified sandstone
Lithology description: The lower part of the Karawuyi Formation consists mainly of the sediments of the conglomerate, quartz sandstone, black mudstone and bioclastic packstone (or grainstone) microfacies, displaying that the depositional environments changed from nearshore to offshore (normal marine) upwards; the upper part of the formation is charaxterized by alternation of black mudstone, quartz sandstone and bioclastic packstone microfacies, suggestive of an environment between subtidal zone to storm wavebase of normal marine condition.
Environment:transition zone/lower shoreface
Geology comments: The entere interpreted packstone and sandstone as the primary and secondary lithologies, respectively, based on a drawn strat column. Niether the column nor the text indicates which lithologies the fossils were actually collected from.
