Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Puerto Madryn Fm, which unconformably overlies the Gaiman Fm (Early Miocene). THICKNESS: From 4 m thick bed within 29 m thick section. Formation reaches a maximum thickness of 150 m. AGE: Middle Miocene according to del Rio (1992) on the basis of generic affinities with Middle Miocene Caribbean faunas. Regarded as Late Miocene by del Rio (2004). STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From near top of section.

Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Grey, fine to very fine calcareous sandstone with lenses of grey fine-grained sandy shell beds containing a well-preseved skeletal fauna. LITHIFICATION: Unlithified based on figured specimens.
Environment:coastal indet.
Geology comments: ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine tidal and subtidal environment with frequent storm processes superimposed.
