Stratigraphy
Geological group:White Limestone Formation:Moneague Member:Brown's Town Limestone
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Brownstown Limestone Mbr of the White Limestone Fm, which unconformably overlies the Gibraltar Limestone Mbr (Late Eocene), and is unconformably overlain by the Montpellier Limestone Mbr (Late Oligocene-Early Miocene). STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From a band in the lower part the Lepidocyclina undosa/Lepidocyclina favosa zone. LITHOSTRATIGRAPHY: Originally assigned to the Brown's Town Limestone. Replaced by Moneague Formation in Stevens (2004).
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:shelly/skeletal lithified "limestone"
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Limestones, with an abundance of gastropods. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, based on facies description.
Environment:shallow subtidal indet.
Geology comments: ENVIRONMENT: No environmental data reported in text, but apparently from shallow, carbonate facies.
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:cast,mold/impression
Size of fossils:macrofossils
Preservation of anatomical detail:very poor
Collection methods and comments
Collection methods:surface (in situ),field collection
Reason for describing collection:biostratigraphic analysis
Collection method comments: COLLECTOR: Unknown. REPOSITORY: Geological Survey of Jamaica.
Taxonomic list comments:COVERAGE: Limited, probably not exhaustive due to the poor preservation of the fauna and its limited investigation. NOMENCLATURE: Not an authoritative publication, and with antiquated nomenclature and no species-level taxonomic assignments.
