Stratigraphy
Formation:Sînpetru
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: lower part of the lower (but not basalmost) Maastrichtian (Csiki-Sava et al. 2016)

"Several vertebrate remains were discovered at different stratigraphic levels during the recent years in the Scoaba locality....As FGGUB R.1957 was found as a loose element, at the base of the section, its exact provenance is unknown"
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:red or brown cherty/siliceous mudstone
Secondary lithology: lithified sandstone
Includes fossils?Y

Lithology description: "The Scoaba locality is situated in the lower part of the outcropping sequence, on the left bank of the Sibisel valley. It is represented by a 30 m thick rhythmic alternation of thick and laterally extensive sandstone bodies and pedogenetically modified, mainly reddish-brown siltic mudstones"
Environment:fluvial indet. Tectonic setting:intermontane basin
Geology comments: "Sedimentological studies...suggest the deposits were laid down in a braided fluvial setting and represent floodplain and channel deposits, respectively"
