Stratigraphy
Formation:Lantian
Stratigraphy comments: Probably Turolian - overlies the Bahe Formation which is Vallesian (based on Qiu, 1990), previously thought to be Pliocene. The Lantian Formation is 'composed of dark red, dark tan clays and tan-yellow sandy conglomerates. The clays contain large amounts of carbonate concretions. After weathering, surficial colour changes to gray-yellow or grey white and the clay units are perched as spongy hummocks.' Sedimentary thickness is generally between 10m - 40m and reaching nearly 70m at most.
