CT-103, Çal Tepe Section, Taurus Mountain, near Seydisehir (Cambrian of Turkey)

Also known as Originally given as Seydisehir

Where: Konya, Turkey (37.4° N, 31.9° E: paleocoordinates 37.4° N, 31.9° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Acadoparadoxides mureroensis trilobite zone, Light Grey Limestone Member (Cal Tepe Formation), Toyonian (512.9 - 510.2 Ma)

• higher A. mureroensis zone (Iberian scale) or higher Cephalopyge notabilis zone (Moroccan scale) = early Middle Cambrian; a few specimen from the underlying Black Limestone Member (Protolenus (Hupeolenus) zone).

•This is basal Leonian (PJW), but we do not have the Iberian scale entered yet. Sarmiento et al. (2001) initially put this in the Protolenus zone, which is uppermost Bilbian, but Dean (2005) revised this.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal; lithified wackestone

• low-energy, open-marine conditions on a muddy carbonate ramp or platform with reduced sedimentation rate
• bioclastic wackestone rich in disarticulated chancelloriids and echinoderms, accompanied by poriferids, hyoliths, "gastropods", trilobites, brachiopods and some small shelly fossils; echinoderm wacke-to packstone; sample from the Black Limestone: bioturbated peloidal pack- to grainstone

Size class: mesofossils

Preservation: cast
