Rosenberg quarry, reef facies, coral buildup CB4 (Miocene of Austria)

Where: Austria (46.7° N, 15.6° E: paleocoordinates 46.1° N, 15.1° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Langhian (16.0 - 13.8 Ma)

Environment/lithology: reef, buildup or bioherm; reef rocks

• 4 coral buildups. They range in lateral extent from 30 to 100 m, achieve heights of up to 9 m and are surrounded by coarsegrained coralline algal-dominated skeletal limestones (pack-, float-, rudstones) with variable quantities of coral debris, rhodoliths, bryozoan colonies, foraminifers, and mollusks
• This 4 m high and a few meters wide coral buildup rests on bioturbated,

•bioclastic mollusk–corallinacean rudstones and packstones

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils
