Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; sandstone

• The unit was interpreted as a tsunami backflow deposit erodingcoastal dunes. The underlying mudstones and sandstones of the Ranquil Formation yielded a late Miocene age, while the overlying calcareous sandstone has an early Pliocene age.
• Sandstone bed of about 5 to more than 30 m thickness, with an erosive basal contact and sandstone intrusions reaching into the underlying angles with a length of up to more than 30 m and up to 2 m width
