Dubaria megaerella Community in the Central Carnic Alps (Silurian of Austria)

Where: Austria (46.7° N, 13.0° E: paleocoordinates 42.4° S, 52.8° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: eosteinhornensis zone, Pridoli (423.0 - 419.2 Ma)

Environment/lithology: marine; lime mudstone and grainstone

• "Such a pattern of sedimentary structures [as described under lithology] is mirrored by facies distributions [details on diversity, population density, and body size follow]...A shallow, moderately quiet environment through all of BA 3 is suggested."
• "Over 90% of the speciments occur articulated in both micritic and calcarenitic matrix. In the latter case the shells are slightly larger and wave (to current) action is shown by small scale ripples and laminations inside beds up to 30 cm thick. "

Collection methods: Despite geographic range of community, presentation suggests all elements listed are present at type locality. Abundance data (rare, common, dominant) given for brachiopods (table 20.1).
