Where: Libya (28.1° N, 13.0° E: paleocoordinates 36.3° S, 15.8° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Marar Formation, Tournaisian (358.9 - 346.7 Ma)

• Formation said to be upper Tournaisian, although there seems to be some uncertainty here. Sample is from lower part of formation.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; silty shale and sandstone

• disarticulation; dense crowding of shells; weak sorting inferred; environment interpreted as shallow marine, quiet
• Formation as a whole: "shales and silty shales interbedded with sandstones"
