Haushi Uplift OL26, Section 7 (Permian of Oman)

Where: Oman (21.0° N, 57.7° E: paleocoordinates 36.6° S, 52.7° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: 1 Member (Khuff Formation), Wordian (266.9 - 264.3 Ma)

• Composite section built on five sections. Khuff is part of an unconformable second mega-sequence, which consists of the fluvial terrigenous Gharif Fm., overlain by marine marls and bioclastic limestones of the Khuff Fm.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shoreface; lithified, bioturbated, shelly/skeletal, muddy limestone

• This member is divided into two subunits. The lower subunit consists of cross-bedded, pebbly, bioclastic quartzarenites, and the overlying upper subunit consists of thin-bedded, cross-bedded, coarse to medium quartarenites alternating with bioclastic limestone. The lower subunit is interpreted as a barrier beach complex, and the upper subunit is interpreted as a mixed sand-mud shoreface environment.
• thin-bedded, cross-bedded, coarse to medium quartzarenites alternating with bioclastic limestone

Size class: macrofossils
