• Cherts are associated with anthracites which may be considered being stratigraphically below, wheras lavas and tuffs are also found above. Chert is associated with anthracitic beds and occur as lenses within the lavas which crop out around the edge of the Autun Basin. Radiometric date of 328 +/- 5 My quoted.
