SE James Ross Island - Member 2 [Rabot Mbr, Santa Marta Fm] (Cretaceous of Antarctica)

Where: Antarctica (64.2° S, 57.8° W: paleocoordinates 62.0° S, 68.5° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Rabot Member (Santa Marta Formation), Late/Upper Campanian (83.5 - 70.6 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Rabot Mbr of the Santa Marta Fm, which is locally overlain by the López de Bertodano Fm (Campanian-Maastrichtian). The Rabot Mbr of Crame et al. (1991) is raised to formation rank by Marenssi et al. (1992), but the former lithostratigraphic nomenclature is used by the enterer AGE: Late Campanian, on the basis of ammonite biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From middle "member 2" of the Rabot Member.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified siltstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Offshore siliciclastic marine setting.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Siltstone and rare thin sandstone beds, on the basis of Fig. 2 of Marenssi et al. (1992). LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of figured specimens.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: cast, mold/impression

Collection methods: COLLECTOR: Multiple collectors, including the authors. REPOSITORY: Not stated, but presumably the Centro de Investigaciones en Recurso Geologicos (CIRGEO)..
