Environment/lithology: open shallow subtidal; lithified mixed carbonate-siliciclastic sediments

• '... during the Aptian, the region of Zapotitlan-San Juan Raya was an area close to the coast, covered with shallow waters '
• 'The San Juan Raya foramtion... consists basically of calcareous lutites with intercalations of calcareous sandstone... maximum thickness of 1250 meters.'
