Also known as GS 6407

Where: New Zealand (38.6° S, 177.1° E: paleocoordinates 75.3° S, 170.0° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Mata Group, Cretaceous (145.0 - 66.0 Ma)

• Mata Series

Environment/lithology: marine; concretionary, micaceous, silty, calcareous, carbonaceous sandstone and argillaceous, sandy conglomerate

• Moderately soft, fine to medium grained massive silty sandstone, locally carbonaceous or micaceous and with large beds of septarian concretions, and very hard locally where calcareous. Siltstone beads appear near the top of sequences, mainly in the easternmost outcrops. Conglomerates, consisting mostly of pebbles of "graywacke" and some penecontemporaneous sandstone are concentrated near the base especially in the Te Hoe area.
