Peppermint Grove Limestone Mbr, Tamala Limestone - East Freemantle (Pleistocene of Australia)

Where: Western Australia, Australia (32.0° S, 115.8° E: paleocoordinates 32.4° S, 115.8° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Peppermint Grove Limestone Member (Tamala Limestone Formation), Late/Upper Pleistocene (0.1 - 0.0 Ma)

• LITHOSTRATIGRAPHY: Peppermint Grove Limestone is relegated to member status following Kendrick et al. 1991. STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Unknown relationships to other bounding units, as not mentioned in text. THICKNESS: Shell bed about two feet in thickness. AGE: Late Pleistocene.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shoreface; unlithified, coarse-grained, pebbly, shelly/skeletal, brown, sandy mixed carbonate-siliciclastic sediments

• ENVIRONMENT: Mixed assemblage of taxa from ipen rocky shore or reef flat, sandy beach with moderate exposure, and sheltered shallow marine gulf habitats. Here, assigned to a siliciclastic "shoreface" environment. SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY: Accumulated during Late Pleistocene sea-level rise.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Rounded travertine pebbles and occasional rolled corals in a corase brown shell sand. LITHIFICATION: Unlithified, assumed to be unlithified give age and as text states sediment to be soft.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: original aragonite, original calcite

Collection methods: quarrying,

• COLLECTORS: Collected by members of the Western Australia Naturalist's Club. REPOSITORY: Western Australian Museum, Perth.
