Filon Douze Tafilalt bed CK (Devonian of Morocco)

Also known as Jovellania limestone succession. - not to confuse with "Jovellania limestone" of Bultynck and Walliser (2000)

When: Pedavis pesavis conodont zone, Lochkovian (419.2 - 410.8 Ma)

• Approximately 40 m above Scyphocrinites limestone. The bed represents the pesavis Bioevent.

Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified, nodular limestone and poorly lithified claystone

• Directly above OJ-II there is a conspicuous purple to pinkish claystone that contains masses of pelmatozoan debris and small bivalves (Cheiopteria). Approximately 0.2 m above OJ-II a horizon is intercalated in this claystone with ochre coloured limestone nodules that contain masses of small (cross-section 3 mm) Cheiopteria and commonly Hemicosmorthoceras (bed CK).

Preservation: recrystallized, original aragonite, replaced with calcite
