Bandurrias River, Calafate - Upper Centinela Formation (Eocene of Argentina)

Where: Argentina (50.5° S, 72.3° W: paleocoordinates 53.0° S, 62.5° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Upper Member (Centinela Formation), Lutetian (47.8 - 41.3 Ma)

• The upper part of the Centinela Formation comprises medium- to fine-grained sandstones, siltstones, and strata with oysters frequently preserved in life position. Beds are present with sigmoidal and bidirectional plane cross-stratification. Collection from approximately 150-280 m in the stratigraphic column of Casadio et al. (2000).

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; poorly lithified, fine-grained, medium sandstone and siltstone

• Coastal marine facies, upper subtidal, well oxygenated, normal to low salinity, very low sedimentation rate.
• Medium- to fine-grained sandstones and siltstones.

Size class: macrofossils

Collection methods: Mentioned in section description, not apparent these were collected.
