Isrand Formation type section, Galadriel Fjeld, Kilen (Triassic of Greenland)

Where: Greenland (81.2° N, 13.9° W: paleocoordinates 39.1° N, 3.0° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Isrand Formation, Longobardian (242.0 - 235.0 Ma)

• "Upper Ladinian" (Alsen et al. 2017)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; mudstone

• "The Isrand Formation at Kilen appears to be a monotonic succession of laminated or massive-appearing black shale/mudstone with recurring concretionary intervals. Fissility is variably developed and no bioturbation was observed. Complete characterization of the range of facies and delineation of stratigraphic variability of the Isrand Fm require additional fieldwork." (Alsen et al. 2017)

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: mold/impression
