Bu Hashish Formation (Oligocene of Libya)

Where: Libya (30.2° N, 17.2° E: paleocoordinates 28.2° N, 15.1° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• basin-level geographic resolution

When: Bu Hashish Formation, Late/Upper Oligocene (28.4 - 23.0 Ma)

• LITHOSTRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONSHIPS: From the Dur Bu Hashish Fm, which overlies the Umm ad Dahiy Fm (Rupelian) and is unconformably overlain by the Al Khums Fm. AGE: Late Oligocene, on the basis of microfossil and macrofossil biostratigraphy. THICKNESS: averages 40 m across its range.

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lagoonal or restricted shallow subtidal; poorly lithified, shelly/skeletal, green shale and poorly lithified, white dolomite

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow neritic environment of deposition with lagoonal facies.
• GENERAL LITHOLOGY: Green shale with soft fossiliferous limestone intercalations, and whitish soft, and vacuolar-coquinoid dolomite. LITHIFICATION: Poorly lithified, on the basis of facies description.

Size classes: macrofossils, microfossils

Collection methods: surface (in situ),

• COLLECTORS: Not stated, possibly multiple collectors. REPOSITORY: Unknown.
