Tordillo (Jurassic of Argentina)

• This formation was described by GROEBER(1946: 182) as "Tordillense" and constitutes the basal portion of the Andico Supergroup, just above the Inter-Upper Jurassic or Araucarian Unconformity ( LEANZAet al., 1977).

Environment/lithology: marginal marine; green, red, silty, conglomeratic sandstone

• This unit was deposited in a marginal marine (litto- ral) and a deltaic-fluviatil environment.
• The Tordillo Formation is composed of conglomerates, sandstones, siltstones and shales mostly ofdarkred, reddish and greenish colour.
