• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From Shakubetsu Fm of the Urahoro Gp, which overlies the Shitakara Fm of the Urahoro Gp (Early Oligocene) and is overlain by the Omagari Fm of Ombetsu Gp. THICKNESS: From bed within unit 30-280 m thick. AGE: Early Oligocene based on molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From bed within upper part of the formation.

• ENVIRONMENT: Coastal marine, siliciclastic environment.
