Myungcheon-dong, Boryeong (Triassic of South Korea)

Where: South Korea (36.3° N, 126.6° E: paleocoordinates 43.2° N, 121.2° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Amisan Formation (Nampo Group), Norian (228.0 - 208.5 Ma)

• Assigned to the Norian by Nam et al. (2017), although later they said " The age of this insect fauna is still debatable, but it is generally considered to be Late Triassic or Early Jurassic. We consider it as Late Triassic in age based on the analysis of the fossil conchostracans (Estherites kawasaki) and plants (Equisetites ferganensis)."

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine; lithified shale

• Presumably from part of section marked as "lacustrine delta" on stratigraphic column
• "The Boryeong deposits consist of dark shale, sandstone, siltstone, and conglomerate."

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: adpression

Collection methods: Repository: Department of Earth Science Education, Kongju National University, Korea
