Loc. 107 - Dubar Fm (Miocene of Somalia)

Where: Somalia (11.3° N, 49.3° E: paleocoordinates 10.6° N, 46.9° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Dubar Formation (Guban Group), Early/Lower Miocene (23.0 - 16.0 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Dubar Fm [enterers usage] of the Guban Series [group?], and presumably regionally overlies Early Miocene strata (equivalent to the Naag Fm) and is overlain by the Late Miocene conglomerate. AGE: Early Miocene, equivalent to Burdigalian and upper Gaj according to author on the basis of larger formaniferal and molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From unknown position within section.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, fine-grained sandstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine siliciclastic environment.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Sabbie fini e arenarie. LITHIFICATION: Lithified on the basis of figured specimens from adjacent beds.
