Loc. 1 - Matanzas Bay (Pleistocene of Cuba)

Where: Cuba (22.7° N, 81.2° W: paleocoordinates 22.7° N, 81.0° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Pleistocene (2.6 - 0.0 Ma)

• LITHOSTRATIGRAPHY: No lithostratigraphic units named in text. AGE: Pleistocene (Richards 1935, 1962) based on the high proportion of Recent species. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Terrace up to 25 ft in elevation.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: poorly lithified limestone

• ENVIRONMENT: No environmental data reported in text. From carbonate facies, hence carbonate environment. SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY: From terrace, hence transgressive.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Limestone. LITHIFICATION: No indication of lithification, but assumed to be poorly-lithified on the basis of age and lithologic description of adjacent collections (i.e. loose shells). No figured specimens.

Size class: macrofossils

Reposited in the CM

• COLLECTORS: Collected by H.G. Richards and R.E. Dickerson (1933). REPOSITORIES: Collections held in the Carnegie Museum.
