• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Nahr Umr Fm, which overlies (unconformably) the Shuaiba Fm (Early Aptian), and is overlain by the Natih Fm (Latest Albian to early Turonian. AGE: Lower to lower Middle Albian, on the basis of ammonite and microfossil biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From middle part of formation.

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, calcareous shale

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine siliciclastic setting.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Calcareous shales. LITHIFICATION: Lithified on the basis of figured specimens.
