Tičji Rat section, rudist biostrome (Cretaceous of Croatia)

Where: Split-Dalmatia, Croatia (43.3° N, 16.8° E: paleocoordinates 28.6° N, 17.1° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Lovrečina Member (Pučišća Formation), Middle Campanian (83.5 - 70.6 Ma)

• based on foraminiferal biostratigraphy

Environment/lithology: reef, buildup or biohermlithified

• Metre-thick rudist-bearing bed of the Tiji Rat section, it overlies peloidal wackestone to packstone with skeletal components. Centimetre-scale grainstone beds were also observed.

•Two types of matrix dominate in these lithologies: (1) peloid

•grains in sparite matrix (peloidal grainstone), and (2) carbonate

•mud (wackestone to packstone).

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils, microfossils

Collection methods: chemical, mechanical
