Antimachia (Pleistocene of Greece)

Where: Kos, Greece (36.8° N, 27.1° E: paleocoordinates 36.7° N, 27.0° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

When: Early/Lower Pleistocene (2.6 - 0.8 Ma)

• From Koufos (2006): FORSYTH MAYOR (1887) refers from Antimachia a fauna with Equus stenonis, Mammuthus meridionalis and Anancus arvernensis, which could be considered as early Villafranchian, but the presence of Hippopotamus major is controversial to the rest fauna. It is clear that the fauna from Kos is problematic and it is necessary to have new collections for certain age determinations.
