White Head Fm, Perce, S-61-4-Patzkowsky (Silurian of Canada)

Also known as Perce

Where: Quebec, Canada (48.5° N, 64.3° W: paleocoordinates 22.6° S, 35.5° W)

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: White Head Formation, Llandovery (443.4 - 433.4 Ma)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lithified, gray limestone and lithified, argillaceous, silty limestone

• Lithologic description is a general one for the section in which the Llandovery beds may be found, not for the Llandovery beds specifically.
• Smooth, lithographic, brown to dar-brownish-gray (micritic) limestone beds 1-6 in. thick w/ thinner interbeds of grey, shaly or silty limestone or calcareious shale. Contacts between alternating pure and argillaceious limestone beds are sharply defined. Locally, beds as much as 8 in. thick consist of coarse, massive, crinoidal limestone. Also local beds of conglomerate with a pink, crinoidal matrix.
