La Voulte-sur-Rhône, Ardèche (MNHN collection) (Jurassic of France)

Where: France (44.8° N, 4.8° E: paleocoordinates 35.2° N, 14.7° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Early/Lower Callovian (164.7 - 161.2 Ma)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: offshore; poorly lithified, lenticular, sideritic, argillaceous marl

• The water depth is estimated to 200m. The bottom water must have been very quiet and anoxic.
• The lithofacies are schistous marls ravealing former uncemented palesubstrates, with clay very dominating (montmorillonite for 60-70%, calcium carbonates, siderite and limonite for less than 30% or 40%)

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: cast, soft parts, original chitin, replaced with calcite, replaced with siderite

Reposited in the MNHN

Collection methods: surface (in situ), mechanical,
