White Head Fm, Perce, S-61-10-Patzkowsky (Silurian of Canada)

Also known as Perce

Where: Quebec, Canada (48.6° N, 64.4° W: paleocoordinates 22.5° S, 35.6° W)

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: White Head Formation, Llandovery (443.4 - 433.4 Ma)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lithified, gray limestone and lithified, argillaceous, silty limestone

• Lithologic description is for section in which the Llandovery beds may lie, not for the Llandovery beds themselves.
• Smooth, lithographic to sublithographic, brown to dark-brownish-gray (micritic) limestone beds 1-6 in. thick with thinner interbeds of gray, shaly or silty limestone or calcareous shale. Contacts between alternating pure and argillaceous limestone beds are sharply defined. Locally, beds as much as 8 in. thick consist of coarse, massive crinoidal limestone. Also local beds of conglomerate with a pink, crinoidal matrix. This collectoin was taken from blocks, not from the actual outcrop.

Size class: macrofossils
