Where: Alberta, Canada (51.7° N, 115.5° W: paleocoordinates 37.7° N, 49.9° W)
• coordinate stated in text
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Red Deer Member (Fernie Formation), Margaritatus (189.6 - 183.0 Ma)
• From the lower 60-90 m of the exposed Fernie Formation. According to Ollerenshaw, collected 13-21 ft (4-6.4 m) above the base of the Fernie Formation; equivalent to the central part of the interval identified by Frebold (1969, Fig. I, Sec. 10) as "Upper Pliensbachian". Sinemurian/Pliensbachian age given by Feldmann and Copeland. Hall (1987) described Amaltheus stokesi from Red Deer Member at this locality, indicating correlation with Margaritatus zone.
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: lithified, black, silty lime mudstone
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: adpression
Collected by N.C. Ollerenshaw in 1966; reposited in the GSC
