Loc. 1 - Rio Bueno Harbour [Falmouth Fm] (Pleistocene of Jamaica)

Also known as Loc. 7 (Liddle et al. (1984); Loc. 3 (Donovan & Gordon, 1989)

Where: Jamaica (18.5° N, 77.5° W: paleocoordinates 18.5° N, 77.5° W)

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Falmouth Formation (Coastal Group), Late/Upper Pleistocene (0.1 - 0.0 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Falmouth Fm, which unconformably overlies the Hope Gate Fm. THICKNESS: Sample collected from 2-4 m of section of unknown thickness. AGE: Late Pleistocene, last interglacial, Sangamonian, ~125,000 yrs bp. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Immediately above the hardground surface of the unconformable contact with the Hope Gate Fm.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: reef, buildup or bioherm; poorly lithified, sandy, calcareous reef rocks

• ENVIRONMENT: Interpreted as eitrher patch reef in the back reef lagoon or shallow fore reef.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: From coral-packed facies with a friable, weakly cemented carbonate sand matrix. LITHIFICATION: Poorly-lithified, based on facies description and figured outcrop photos

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: original aragonite, original calcite

Collected by Donovan & Littlewood in 1988-1990

Collection methods: bulk, surface (in situ), sieve,

• COLLECTORS: Donovan and Littlewood. REPOSITORY: Not stated, but presumably the University of the West Indies.
