Where: Svalbard, Norway (78.0° N, 20.0° E: paleocoordinates 6.3° N, 17.9° W)

When: Frankelryggen Formation, Silurian (443.8 - 419.2 Ma)

• The brook exposes a section at a height of about 60 m above sea level, the beds dipping 20-30 degrees in a direction varying from V 10-V 40 degrees south, which causes the stratigraphically highest beds to occur lowest down in the ravine.

Environment/lithology: fluvial; sandstone and green shale

• Most come from the lower of two thin shale layers interspersed in the sandstone.
