• Further calibration using U-Pb Zircon CA-ID-TIMS of tuff beds within the morphotectonic zones within the Bowen Basin yielded dates of 254.10 ±0.09 Ma to 252.54±0.05 Ma for the Kaloola Member in Meeleebee 5 well on the Roma shelf, bracketing the age of the Kaloola Member (Metcalfe et al. 2015; Laurie et al. 2016). The uppermost tuff in the Kaloola Member, the Yarrabee Tuff (YTB), was identified from both CA-ID-TIMS and geochemical analyses and was the last major tuff in the late Permian coal measures of the Bowen Basin, and is a stratigraphically significant marker across the Basin (Ayaz et al. 2016; Sliwa et al. 2017). The YTB was dated by CA-ID-TIMS to 252.69 ± 0.16 Ma in Duckworth 11 well, 253.07 ± 0.22 Ma in the Crocker Gully 2 well and < 252.58 ± 0.23 Ma in Peat 1 well and therefore coincides with the age of the uppermost Meeleebee 5 tuff layer (Ayaz et al. 2016). Sliwa et al. (2017) suggested that the YTB was extensive and is represented by repeated depositional episodes. Pb Zircon CA-ID-TIMS of 5 accessory tuffs in Meeleebee 5 ranged in age from 252.54 ±0.05 Ma to 254.10 ± 0.09 Ma, and the basal tuff is interpreted as correlating with the base of the Kaloola Member (Laurie et al. 2016, Fig. 15; Metcalfe et al. 2015).
