Cioclovina–Bănita area, MFT1—bio-intraclastic grainstone/rudstone (Jurassic to of Romania)

Where: Romania (45.5° N, 23.2° E: paleocoordinates 37.5° N, 30.2° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Kimmeridgian to Kimmeridgian (157.3 - 145.0 Ma)

Environment/lithology: platform or shelf-margin reef; grainstone and rudstone

• Platform margin environment—reef debris—upper slope/ fore-reef—agitated environment.

•Angular and sub-angular shapes and poor sorting of the main components; allochthonous bioclasts (skeletal reef debris), biogenic encrustations, diversified microencruster consortium; several generations of early marine cements (isopachus and radiaxialfibrous), borings and fissures, cavities filled with granular cement types (mainly drusy), irregular anastomosing fissures, and precipitated ferrous oxyhydroxides are often present. This microfacies is strongly affected by compaction processes and fractures creating a more or less brecciated appearance

• Allochthonous bioclastic grainstone/rudstone with reef-derived biota

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils
