• Hampe 2005: Paramo (1997) described the well preserved skull of the ophthalmosaurid Platypterygius sachicarum from Loma Pedro Luis about 1.5 km N of Villa de Leyva (early Aptian, Fig. 1) and there are several undescribed ichthyosaur specimens consisting of partial skulls and vertebral columns (pers. observ.) from this area.
