When: Pavlodar Group, Miocene (23.0 - 5.3 Ma)

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lithified, pebbly, carbonaceous claystone and lithified, pebbly, gray, green claystone

• Primary lithology: pebble gravel with dense red-brown clay cement transitioning into a red-brown carbonaceous clay with gypsum crystals. Small mammal fossils recovered form the claystone.

•Secondary lithology: Green-gray and brown clays with lenses of course-grained "shingles" containeng clasts of the basement marls and sandstones. Abundant fossils in lenses
