Qinglongshan near Muchulang village, Dilophosaurus sinensis holotype (Jurassic to of China)

Where: Yunnan, China (24.7° N, 102.6° E: paleocoordinates 33.5° N, 106.2° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Lufeng Formation, Hettangian to Hettangian (201.3 - 190.8 Ma)

• The Lufeng Formation has been divided into lower dark/dull purple beds (= Shawan Member) and upper dark/deep red beds (= Zhangjiawa Member). Luo & Wu (1994: In the Shadow of the Dinosaurs, pp. 251–270) argue on the basis of vertebrate biostratigraphy for a probable Sinemurian age for the Zhangjiawa Member and a Hettangian age for the Shawan Member. It is not clear which member this locality represents.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lithology not reported

Size class: macrofossils

Collected in 1987

Collection methods: quarrying,

• Collection made in 1987.
